The Algarve has once again been recognised as one of the premier tourist destinations in the country with nominations for the upcoming Publituris Portugal Travel Awards.
The Publituris awards are the most highly valued awards in Portugal in relation to tourism and, in total, the Algarve has been nominated for 15 awards across various categories, with the winners to be announced on September 21st at a ceremony to be held in the Hotel Aqualuz in Tróia.
The Algarve is also up again for the most coveted award of Best Tourism Region in Portugal, while many of the other awards are aimed at specific tourism businesses.
Golf has always been one of the biggest draws for tourists in the Algarve and this year Monte Rei, Onyria Palmares, Quinta do Lago North and The Old Course in Vilamoura are all up for the prize of best golf course in the country - showing the strength of golf in the region.
When it comes to hotels, the Anatara Vilamoura Algarve Resort is nominated for the best 5-star hotel in the country, with Vila Monte Farm House up for the best 4-star hotel and Carvi Beach Hotel Lagos and the Dom José Hotel both up for the best 3-star hotels.
The Algarve is known for its wealth of hotel resorts and this is reflected in the number in the region that are nominated for the top resort hotel with Cascade Wellness & Lifestyle Resort, Conrad Algarve, EPIC SANA Algarve, Monte Santo Resort, Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa and the Vilalara Thalassa Resort all nominated.
The Adriana Beach Club Hotel Resort, Aquashow Park Hotel, Clube Humbria and Salgados Palm Village are all in the category for best family resort hotel while the Bela Vista Hotel & Spa, Onyria Palmares Beach House Hotel, Suites Alba Resort & Spa and Vila Joya are up for the award for best beach hotel.
The broad range of different accommodation types in the Algarve shows how diverse the region is for visitors with different budgets and needs. There is also a very strong private villa and apartment market for visitors to the Algarve, however these properties are not included in the awards which focus primarily on the large tourism businesses across Portugal.
