Ten Portuguese startups are featuring amongst the 100 hottest in Europe, according to Wired.

Ten Portuguese startups are featuring amongst the 100 hottest in Europe, according to Wired. Every year, the British magazine reveals some of the “most brilliant minds and companies” in all Europe that “might make the difference in a long-term period”. Coverage is released regularly and Wednesday was Portugal’s day!
“Lisbon has roared back to life on a wave of tech entrepreneurship and it’s reflected in its diverse range of startups”, this article by Joao Medeiros described, adding that Lisbon is the capital of a “country that has already created unicorns like OutSystems, Talkdesk and Farfetch”.
Besides the featured startups, the article also mentions projects such as Beato Creative Hub, which is a partnership between Startup Lisboa and the Municipality and whose inauguration is due at the beginning of the next year.
In July, Startup Portugal, responsible for the creation and implementation of the national strategy for entrepreneurship, has announced that the entrepreneurial ecosystem represents 1.1% of Portugal’s GDP. According to that entity’s data, sales and services by national startups/entrepreneurs reached 2.2Bn euros in 2018. Exportations also increased to 1.121M euros, almost doubling in comparison to 2016’s 673M euros of exported goods and services by startups. The sector represents 1.9% of Portugal’s total exportations.
