As demand for properties in the Algarve soars (read more here), making it harder than ever to purchase a home in this sought-after area, it is crucial that buyers rely on the help of local real estate experts. This was the conclusion of the director of the Luxury Property Show, Jana Korpova-Harris, who shared her insights into the hottest places to buy overseas.

In an article published on the Property Investor Today website, the real estate expert recognised the “well-deserved popularity of the Algarve”, which attracts holidaymakers and expats from around the world (see here).

However, as a result of this increased demand, shrewd property owners are holding on to their investments. Developers have also been cautious (see here), leading to a lack of new builds in the region to meet the current demand. This means that there is even less opportunity for buyers to purchase their dream home.

Keeping a finger on the pulse

According to Korpova-Harris, finding a home from home in Portugal isn’t as easy as it once was. Those looking to buy in the Algarve must be prepared to spend time hunting for the right property at a price they are willing to pay.

“For most, this means a waiting game, and it is important for those looking to buy property on the southern coast of Portugal to keep up to date with the real estate market in the region as great buys tend to be snapped up incredibly quickly,” said the property show director.
