In an analysis of the strongest international real estate markets going into 2020, Portugal has been named one of the hottest places in which to invest in the coming year.
Having hit the market bottom following the 2008 recession, “when you could find good properties on the books of banks and financial institutions for a low price”, Portugal has been on an upswing since 2015, says real estate news website Realty Biz News.
Naming the country one of the four strongest real estate markets for investors in 2020, the property experts compare hot spots like Lisbon to cities like Barcelona and Rome, with property prices soaring thanks to rapid gentrification.

In Portugal, “properties ready for rental in the right area can command a decent yield”, says Shepardson, who narrowed down the best investment options to just a few markets. Picking something for every real estate investor, the article also lists Brazil, Turkey and Belize as destinations for investors to consider in the coming year.
