The Algarve, a popular year-round golfing destination, has teamed up with the golf tour operator network to support golfers’ holiday costs with the new campaign, “Golf clubs are on us”.

The new campaign offers golfers a ‘free golf bag’, for those travelling from the UK, Ireland, Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands. With most major airlines included, golfers travelling on a direct international flight to Faro could save up to €100 each.

The free golf bag offer will be applied to bookings made with a licensed golf tour operator at an officially licensed hotel, villa or apartment. The offer applies to a minimum stay of five nights between November and April 2021. Bookings must be confirmed by December 31, 2020.

“We all know it’s been a difficult time for everyone with so many travel plans postponed or cancelled this year. But we hope this gesture will be appreciated and may allow some more of our guests to rearrange their visit to our golf courses during the next few months,” said a spokesperson for the Algarve Tourism board.

They continued: “We know our friends across Europe see their opportunities to play golf a little more limited in the autumn and winter months, but in the Algarve, we are open all year round.”

The Algarve, which was named the best golf destination in the world just last year (read more), has extensive precautions in place, with hotels and courses displaying the Clean & Safe certification, awarded to venues that comply with the highest hygiene and cleaning standards.
