Despite the pandemic and the market slowdown, real estate experts are certain that the high-end property market will emerge stronger from the pandemic, with positive prospects for recovery.

The opinion was shared by Rafael Ascenso from the Porta da Frente agency in the latest Dinheiro Vivo Talks webinar, with the theme 'Perspectives and trends in the premium real estate market in Portugal'.

“Over the last few years, we have managed to build a solid market, much less credit-based, much less volatile, and this was put to the test during this period of pandemic and, despite a large reduction in the number of businesses, these were gradually recovering.”

The founder and general director added: “I think we are in a good moment, which will not, of course, be the same in all segments, but in the premium [segment] we are going through an optimistic phase.”

For this reason, he argues, premium real estate continues to be a safe investment option, whereas the same cannot be said for other alternatives. “We even verified that many Portuguese are withdrawing their financial investments and placing them in the real estate market. Many foreigners also look at Portugal as a good investment alternative, as a safe haven, and I think that this will continue.”

As Rafael Ascenso notes: “We've come to the conclusion that we have everything for buyers who could choose to live anywhere in the world, to see Portugal as one of the first destinations of choice.”
